Job Responsibilities: The Teacher is responsible for providing supervision for students in an after-school program—homeroom supervision for twenty students during part of the afternoon and facilitating small group work for the remainder of the program. The Teacher supervises students in educational curriculum, Christian education, skill building, problem solving and recreational activities.
Education & Experience Requirements: Previous classroom teaching or group experience with elementary age students along with at least 30 semester hours of credit from an accredited college or university with 6 semester hours related to school-age child care, child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation, camping or other related fields, OR 1560 hours of experience in a recreational program or licensed day care center serving school-age children and 6 semester hours of the above mentioned criteria.
Other Requirements: A passion for working with elementary students; awareness of the impact of socio-emotional development upon learning; sensitivity to the needs of students from low-income and culturally diverse backgrounds, strong organizational and communication skills. A commitment to OCM’s Statement of Mission and Faith. Spanish language skills a plus.
Status: Part-time. 19 hours per week. M-F from 2:30pm or 3pm to 6:30pm Position runs August 15, 2017-June 2, 2018 with the possibility of continuing in the summer.
Compensation: Salary for this position falls between $13 and $15.50 per hour based on education, skills, experience and language ability.
